Strengthening Mental Healthcare Through Community Voices

18 experiences shared by the community

This site exists to strengthen mental healthcare in Lafayette and across South and Central Louisiana through community voice.

When people share their experiences, thoughtfully and honestly, it creates something powerful. Patterns become visible. Gaps become clearer. Strengths get recognized. And the people seeking care are better equipped to make informed decisions about their healing.

Community insight doesn’t weaken the mental health system. It helps refine it.

When clients can access real experiences, they’re more likely to find providers who align with their needs. When providers understand how their work is being experienced, it creates opportunities for growth, clarity, and accountability. Everyone benefits when transparency is part of the culture.

This platform offers:

  • A space for honest, constructive reflection

  • A resource for people searching for the right therapeutic fit

  • A growing body of shared knowledge that supports better decision-making

Mental healthcare is deeply personal, but it doesn’t have to be isolating. When voices come together, they create guidance, protection, and empowerment for the people being served.

This is about strengthening the community as a whole.

Because informed clients are empowered clients.
And empowered clients help raise the standard of care for everyone.

Welcome to

Lafayette Therapist Reviews!

Before You Share

Please share your experience honestly and respectfully.
Focus on your personal experience, avoid assumptions, and protect privacy.
Both supportive and challenging experiences are welcome.

Full guidelines below.

Submission Guidelines

This space is built on real experiences, shared with care.

We welcome both supportive and challenging experiences. What matters most is how it’s shared, with honesty, accountability, and respect for everyone involved.

1. Speak from your experience

Focus on what you felt, needed, and experienced.

Instead of:

  • “They were unprofessional”

Try:

  • “I felt unsupported when…”

  • “I left sessions feeling…”

This helps keep reviews grounded in lived experience rather than conclusions about the therapist as a person.

2. Be honest and mindful

Your experience matters. You are allowed to name harm, confusion, or disappointment.

At the same time, avoid:

  • Speculating about intent

  • Making claims you can’t verify

  • Labeling or diagnosing the therapist

We’re creating clarity, not escalating harm.

3. Respect privacy

Keep your review centered on the therapist’s professional role and practice.

Only include information that is publicly available and avoid sharing any personal or private details.

4. Hold both truth and accountability (when possible)

If your experience involved miscommunication, dysregulation, or things you wish you’d handled differently, you’re welcome to include that.

Not because you have to, but because it creates more honest, nuanced reflections.

5. Avoid harmful or inflammatory language

Reviews may be declined if they include:

  • Personal attacks

  • Threatening language

  • Defamation

  • Attempts to rally others against a provider

This space is for reflection, not retaliation.

6. No coordinated posting

To protect the integrity of this platform, submissions may be moderated or declined if there are signs of coordinated activity, regardless of whether the experience is supportive or challenging.

Each review should reflect an individual experience.

What makes a review helpful?

Examples of your experience that helped shape how it felt

  • How it impacted you over time

  • What felt supportive, and/or what didn’t

Additional Note

Submissions are anonymous.

To protect this space as a community resource, reviews may be moderated if they do not align with these guidelines regardless of whether the experience shared is supportive or challenging.

The goal is not to control what’s said, but to ensure it remains thoughtful, grounded, and safe for everyone involved.
